Quindici: Cheeky Chocolate

This is bad... I'm trying to get my appetite back by blogging and it is -not- working. It's been more than a week since I felt hunger. It's so strange, I used to get hungry/ crave food every couple of hours... or just whenever I see food in general. That's all gone now. I can go by one meal a day, or not even that, and still summon enough energy to carry on working throughout the day. How is that even possible?

I was browsing through recipes to bake as well, and usually that gets my sweet tooth aching for candy. Or chocolate. Or cakes. Usually... =(

Anyway, I just made a microwave cake and it turned out quite alright... but then knowing me, it'd just get backlogged until I forget about it.

Today's cafe features Adriano Zumbo's desserts! Namely, macaroons, cakes and chocolates, plus many other delicious sweets~

Personally, I wouldn't go to Cheeky Chocolate to get Zumbo's macaroons, because I've been to The Star where his actual shop is and know that Cheeky Chocolate raised the price by 50c per macaroon. Not to be cheap or anything, but why get it for $3 when you can it for $2.50 right?

This is post badminton as well, and quite a few of us already had coffee beforehand, so we mainly got desserts. This place is actually quite interesting, with velvet cushioned couches, antique tables and chandeliers. Their desserts are typical Adriano Zumbo styled, with this one named "Read my lips or Kiss my Cheeks".

Others shared a fondue set for 2, with peanut brittle, gingerbread men and honeycomb, which are all interesting dips for the fondue, a nice change from the usual fruits and marshmallows.

Which reminded me, I was going to try making honeycomb sometime because it sounds so absolutely easy and requires only... what, three ingredients? Let's just hope I don't burn them when I do try though...

"This is how we roll", which was absolutely great, and that's just a fancier name for profiteroles really. That's dark dark chocolate ice cream right there. Reminded me of Lindt Cafe actually, this dessert.

The shell was a lovely crispy exterior encasing the velvety chocolate ice cream... ok yea I was never very good at typing food descriptions, I don't know why I even bother. It was good. That is all.

As you can see, this is ice cream. Smashed honeycomb. Some nuts. Strawberries. Very nice.

Do I really need to write a description for this?

I don't even know what these are, I can't decide whether I like them or not because I half expected them to taste like... skinless mandarins or orange, but it's neither sweet nor sour. In fact, I remember this to be strangely tasteless.

I have long forgotten what this cake was. Mango? Caramel? Whatever looks yellow~ but no, not bananas. Or durian, cos that's just wayyy off. Hey that's an idea, Adriano. I would like a durian macaroon. Or cake if possible?

From 121___08
Yea, I didn't get this!

From 121___08
Yup, that's mango filling right there. I think.

Overall, place is very comfortable... it looks quite princess'y because of all the posh chairs and tables, but in a group, the guys will fit right in :D I can't say that the menu is cheap at all, but then you ARE paying for Adriano Zumbo. Even desserts have brands and this is considered "branded". I'll still be getting my Zumbo macaroons from the Star though, simply because it's not that inconvenient (ohhh double negative, did you have to think for a bit there?) to walk there if one is out in the city already... and cos it's cheaper. Nice place though, and the chocolate fondue would have given ST some ideas of what to do for future DIY fondues.
